Jim Arnold MBE, of the New Lanark Trust, has been appointed as Chair of Owenstown Co-operative.

The Chairman Designate of Owenstown is Dr. Jim Arnold MBE. Jim was until recent retirement the Director of the New Lanark Trust from its inception in 1974, and led the transformation of the historic village of New Lanark from a completely derelict condition in the 1970s, when it was under threat of demolition, to its current status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Scotland's most popular visitor attractions.

In 1989, in recognition of this work, he was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty the Queen. In 2003 he was awarded the Silver Thistle, which is a personal award for an outstanding contribution to Scottish tourism. With many other accolades, he is the ideal person to chair the Owenstown Co-op at this stage in the process, as he is already a committee member of the Lanarkshire branch of the Scottish Co-operative Society.
